I wish to extend a warm welcome to L’École des Benjamins’ (EdB) and to our website. We hope to give you a flavour of life here in EdB but there is no substitute for visiting us and seeing our happy and industrious children at work. I do hope that our school will be a place where your child will feel happy and secure, and so be able to fulfill his or her potential and grow up to be a responsible member of the society. In our school everyone is a “learner” and we aim to combine academic achievement with a sense of happiness, fun and love.

Bilingualism is a lifelong gift to your child from which they will reap the benefits for the rest of their lives. Early bilingualism can affect the very structure of the intellect and it gives them mental flexibility, superiority in concept formation and a more diversified set of mental abilities.

EdB is a private Nursery school and day-nursery combined, offering places to children as young as two to eight years of age. EdB was founded in 1994 by Claudia Der Caloudian. The school is registered with Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education).

Most children arrive speaking no French – seven out of 10 are Anglophone – but within months of following lessons in both languages, they quickly pick up the second language. The pleasure of learning a second language remains one of the proven assets of our school. We prepare children for both French and/or English educational systems. EdB is enriched by diversity in its multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment, with French and English as languages of instruction.

L’Ecole des Benjamins is located in Balham with eight bright high ceiling, spacious and warm classes. Our classes are fully equipped with educational materials from the UK, France and other European countries. Children benefit from a well-equipped library, gym, secluded roof-terrace garden and swimming pool.
